Quick Review: Avon Kohl Eyeliner in Black & Brown

Let me go straight to the point. I was fooled by this eyeliner. I thought it was retractable. Overall, I was really frustrated. I'm definitely NOT buying again. NO. N to the capital O - NO.

What I hate about Avon is that they use good photography but when you get to try MOST, not all, of their cosmetics, it's either too waxy or powdery. So far I only liked Glazewear, Minerals (the least waxy lipstick!) and their lip liners.

What: 1 gram of eyeliner in a plastic tube (non-retractable)
Where I bought it: Ordered it from Avon.
How much: Php 130

I can go about all day how much this really sucks. I don't care if it's made in Argentina or what, it is the waxiest eyeliner I've tried. Almost like a lip balm! The eyeliner bullet you see protruding is EVERYTHING there is of it. It's not retractable and there is a good chance of hitting the product itself when you try to remove the plastic cap, which fits quite tight.

The brown one is reddish and metallic while the black one looks like Payne's gray rather than black.

The good side: it has no parabens (but has BHT).

If you've already bought this, the best thing WE can do with this is use it as an eyeshadow primer. It's too waxy to be an eyeliner. Look how much it easily smudged. I just ran my finger lightly on it and damn, you're a lip balm disguising as an eyeliner.

So NO I'M NOT BUYING ONE AGAIN and I don't recommend this to anyone, not even to young girls on a budget. Seriously buy an eyeliner at least from Revlon to avoid big time smearing and smudging. Good under Php 500 eyeliners that I've tried are Revlon Colorstay and In2It gel eyeliner (which looks like a pencil eyeliner). I stumbled upon a blog post of Ms. Donnarence of Lucid Intervals. I am curious about Eye of Horus or K-Palette because of her. Read her top 4 eyeliner picks here!

Anew Rejuvenate Glycolic Facial Treatment

Anew Rejuvenate Glycolic Facial Treatment 30 ml.

When it comes to skincare, I don’t want to skimp. Neither do I splurge on luxury creams. I depend on my instinct and common sense by taking time to read the products’ labels and ingredients. Also, finding reviews online can help you decide.

Blue frosted glass bottle. Apparently opaque.

After all the effort, I’ve decided to buy Avon's Anew Rejuvenate Glycolic Facial Treatment. This 30ml Avon serum lasts a long way. 2-4 drops a night is all you need. I actually don’t need a glycolic peel yet, being 18 years old, but I can see that my face appears so rough especially when I’m in the mall and I catch a glimpse of it in a department store mirror. Plus, I have fine lines already, and uneven skin tone. I’d rather take a jumpstart to improve my skin.

The product description and ingredients are the following:

The secret is out! Our Glycolic Facial Treatment is formulated to retexturize to help reduce lines and smooth skin’s surface, reduce damage from aging to help improve skin tone, and reinforce cell bonds to help improve smoothness.

Overnight: 78% of women saw retexturized, more flawless skin.*

In 1 week: see fine lines and wrinkles visibly fade. 94% of women showed improvement in texture & clarity.**

Over time: 97% of women showed improvement in dullness and tone.** 1 fl. oz.

*In a consumer-perception study. **In a dermatologist-supervised clinical study.

Ingredients:

WATER/EAU , GLYCOLIC ACID , SD ALCOHOL 40-B , GLYCERIN , PHYTIC ACID, THIODIPROPIONIC ACID, TRIOXAUNDECANEDIOIC ACID , ECLIPTA PROSTRATA EXTRACT , GOSSYPIUM HERBACEUM (COTTON) EXTRACT , TRITICUM VULGARE (WHEAT) GERM EXTRACT , BUTYLENE GLYCOL , HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE , CHONDRUS CRISPUS (CARRAGEENAN), POLYSORBATE 20, DISODIUM EDTA , METHYLPARABEN, AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE

Okay, let’s start with the review. On my first night with this glycolic facial treatment, I experienced slight tingling. Note that my skin is not sensitive. Then my entire face felt warm but bearable. It doesn’t feel tight like you’re wearing a film over your face. I applied it after my toner. In the morning, I was excited to see my morning face for the first time. My face was absolutely brighter and livelier looking. As for the texture, I didn’t notice the improvement YET. I’ve used this for seven consecutive days. On my 7^th day, I noticed that my face texture has been improved. My fine lines are still there but they weren’t as noticeable. My facial texture is better, my facial clarity is better. I don’t look as washed out like before. The skin around my mouth is darker and I’ve noticed that it has lightened. I wonder what it can do to my face over time.

After my 7^th day, I will apply this just every other day because my skin is not that mature anyway. I still use facial scrubs to complement this. This is not pure glycolic acid so don’t expect too much. ALWAYS wear sunscreen when you’re going out. I prefer wearing SPF 30 everyday since I am not that fair anyway. One word of CAUTION: the packaging and the dropper is glass and only the cap is plastic. Take care where you place this or it would definitely break when it is dropped. A lot of people are already complaining about the packaging.
